Who we are
PuzzleLive (puzzle-live.com) is operated by an individual based in Ukraine. We make a free website where you can put together jigsaw puzzles.
This policy explains in plain words what information we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. If anything here is unclear, please write to us at hello@puzzle-live.com.
What we collect
- Account data, if you sign up. Your email address, a display name and, if you choose, an avatar. Accounts are optional. This data is stored for us by Supabase.
- Puzzle progress. Your unfinished puzzles are saved in your own browser (in localStorage). If you are signed in, we also keep them in our database, so your progress follows you from one device to another.
- Completion records. When you finish a puzzle we store which puzzle it was, how many pieces it had and how long it took. If you play without an account, this is linked to a random identifier stored in your browser, not to you personally.
- Images you upload. If you make your own puzzle on the Create Puzzle page, we store the image together with the title and description you enter.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4. It collects usage events such as pages viewed and puzzles started and completed, your approximate location, and the type of device and browser you use. It uses cookies where you have allowed them.
- Advertising. We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show you ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can read how Google uses information from partner sites at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and change your ad preferences at adssettings.google.com.
Cookies and consent
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before any analytics or advertising cookies are set. Nothing of that kind is set until you have chosen.
Where a consent banner is shown, you can change your choice at any time through it. Declining does not limit the puzzles in any way — the whole site keeps working exactly as before.
Why we process data and on what basis
- Your consent — for analytics and advertising cookies for visitors in the EU, the UK and Switzerland.
- Performance of a contract — to create and run your account and to save your progress while you are signed in.
- Our legitimate interest — to keep the site secure, to understand in aggregate how it is used outside the EU, and to show non-personalised ads that pay for the hosting.
Who else receives data
- Google — for Analytics and AdSense.
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles sign-in.
- Vercel — hosts the website itself.
- Pexels — the source of our stock photographs. No information about you is sent to Pexels when you play.
Each of these companies processes data under its own privacy policy. We do not sell your data to anyone.
How long we keep data
Account data is kept until you delete your account. Progress and completion records are kept as long as your account exists, or until you clear your browser if you play without an account. Analytics data is kept according to Google's retention settings, which are 14 months by default.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to the way we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country.
To delete your account and everything connected to it, write to hello@puzzle-live.com from the email address of the account. We will confirm when it is done.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe that a child has given us information, write to us and we will remove it.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, the effective date at the top of the page changes. If you keep using the site after a change, that means you accept the updated policy.
